The 2012 Burns’ Supper was celebrated on Saturday January 28th.  The event was a sell-out, as always, and the proceedings followed the regular pattern.  Dave Ford produced a fine menu of cock-a-leekie soup, haggis with all the trimmings, and cranachan, and the meal was voted one of the best yet.  Music was provided as ever by our 'family' piper Rick Aitchison. The Haggis was addressed by the Commodore, Irving Benjamin. For the Immortal Memory we had a special guest, local Scots author David Donachie, who made more than passing reference to the current debate over Scottish independence.   Ken Lees toasted the Lassies in a Midlands brogue, and Sallie Anderson gave a spirited reply.  Each table was 'invited' to sing or recite a piece of the Bard's work, which led to renditions of O’all the Airts, Tae a Mouse and Auld Lang Syne, the last sung in (almost) unison by one table.  Wine, whisky and conversation flowed freely: yet another highly successful Club function.  Roll on Burns’ 2013!
