Our 2011 Beer Festival (4-5 March) was a huge success on all fronts - social, musical, alimentary, and Bacchanalian! A full rack of fine specialist ales (sponsored - and in one case brewed!- by members) were on display from Friday lunch time: the first was emptied by that evening, and the last before the close on Saturday. There was steady stream of visitors as well as members, some of whom have applied for membership and many purchased raffle tickets, thanks to the persuasive efforts of Tricia Peak and others on the front desk. We were entertained successively by Mac and Clive (with a guest song from the Commodore), the Old Gin Band, Laurie, and the first efforts of the RCPYC Shanty Shouters. Excess alcohol was soaked up by plenty of filled rolls prepared and served by members. Due to the sterling efforts of our members and the excellent publicity this year the Festival has made a healthy profit, which will go towards the ongoing major projects in the Club. Many thanks to all who worked so hard for this success.
