RCPYC boats recorded a successful week of competition at Ramsgate Regatta.

Hilary Graves with New Limit with a relatively experienced crew achieved sixth place overall in a large entry in the strong Cruiser Class whilst Stephen Jones on Mirage came a superb third on the last day.

Pride of place though went to Ken Lees skippering Rush which despite lying mid week in third place in the competitive Spinnaker Class rattled off five straight wins from Thursday onward to claim First Place in the Class and the Hornby Industries Trophy.

This was Ken’s first Regatta with his Sigma 35 and was extremely pleased with its performance in the extremely varied weather conditions that appeared during the week. ‘It took a couple of days for the crew and myself to settle into racing mode but after that we were flying and thanks to a great effort from everybody we bagged the silverware,’ said the proud owner and skipper. The crew of Rush for the week were RCPYC members Dave Sinnock, Andy and Stuart Hills, Ian Laram, Bernard Sealy and Ned Brophey.
